Did not come to an AMA about animal rights expecting this to be the most controversial issue.

Animal protein is to plant protein as fossil fuel energy is to renewable energy. Governments should be treating animal protein as something that ought to be reduced greatly. A significant carbon tax on meat and dairy would go a long way to reducing demand and environmental impact.

Why is sleep absolutely necessary for all animals? In other words, why hasn't any animal evolved to not need sleep? It seems like such a potential evolutionary advantage to be active all the time that I imagine at least one or two species would have evolved not to sleep if it was physically possible, even if generally speaking sleep has benefits.
