The problem with your use of Plato's cave is that you're in the cave too... you're just claiming to know what's outside the cave without having actually looked.

I'm a recovering Catholic, and my family is filled with nuns, priests, monks, brothers, etc. I also used to prepare tax returns for several priests with plenty of money. IIRC, they do have a general principle of simple living, but they're allowed to own property, receive inheritance, even work side gigs and make money. I knew one priest who had an antique shop, another who is a sports photographer.

No offense... but that sounds like a lot of buzz words without substance. You've spent ten years thinking about this and all you seem to have to show for it is "we need to come up with ideas to fix it."
