Thanks for replying! Restore the trust, I meant that the systems would become trustworthy, because right now I feel borderline paranoid and can't trust not even my pc's OS. And I don't like being paranoid and investing huge amounts of time to feel somewhat secure.... nor the idea of quiting technology because I don't trust it. Not sure I m making sense.

1) If your system has been compromised, using an encrypted email service will not save you, right?

2) How can we use android devices safely, while retaining our privacy when we have to connect them to a gmail account? (And google collects data).

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense!

I am most concerned not with the material that we can delete (I actually found some plugins and tools to help me do that), but with the data that NSA for example has gathered from our personal messages. Even if we delete our messages, these discussions will be stored on their computers forever. Or am I being paranoid?

Limiting the content we share is the only solution to prevent the problem I guess, it doesn't look like there is a remedy for the data that is already away.

Do you think we should have a carefully planned strategy about what we share on social media? Because it is so easy to get carried away, when everyone else does not care about privacy. And we do want to connect with others.
