... the fact that a company in 1953 named Everglades Plantation Company didn’t specifically own slaves does not mean the name (see: plantation) doesn’t have a relation to slavery, and the source you mention does not reference the company’s origins. So, with Plantations in america’s past and their link to slavery, slash constant reminder that “at this location we kept men, women, and children against their will, in brutal conditions, to to do our work for free while we profited*,” do you still think your city should be named Plantation?
