One paramedic looks at the other goes 'you heard that?' the other paramedic says 'yep' and then they leave because they don't want to/can't force someone in to their ambulance and him being drunk makes it that much more of a hassle and that much more dangerous.

Do you know if he finished it? Got it published?

What I'm saying is the paramedics didn't want to mess with him and they legally were in the clear.

What were they all in for? Something together or separate crimes?
