Man - I'm late to the party so I doubt you'll see this but anyway...I just wanted to say that I love your defense of the show and acknowledgement, as you stated above, that it simply "underscored how little television is run by women..." As a female, I watch this show and I also love Louie for very similar reasons. I have yet to find any of my mid-late 20-something male friends who like it. They all say, I get that its good, but its just so GIRLY. And I always say to them, it only feels that way because you're not used to it. So much of what we see is done from a male point of view...they aren't even able to see past the inherent feminine themes to the show, and look at what is actually happening in the show, how the scenes/story arcs/plots are developed, etc. These are men who love 30 Rock and Louie. They are guys who grew up around a lot of girls just like those characters in the show (and who basically ARE those girls but the male versions of them - privileged, white, hipster, intelligent, at least partially supported by their parents 'adults' who feel that they deserve to be handed great fulfilling careers because everything has always been so easy for them). I even find myself judging them for not liking it - not because someone isn't allowed to not like something I do - but because of their reasons for not liking it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say something about this because I read so many of your reviews and I love TV Club - it is where I figure out what I want to watch. I originally found you online because of LOST and have been a fan ever since. Thanks for doing what you do.

As a former Tech Recruiter in the US, I agree with the other commenter who said there is a skill gap. Serching for certain skills are nearly impossible to find...99% of those niche skill sets are filled with foreign workers. Most companies don't like to use H1-B workers because of the difficulty involved in the paperwork and the expense so they wouldn't do it if they could find local people to do the same work. I've worked with a ton of companies who are hiring for, say, an SAP ABAP person, and they will pay anything to get a full time employee to fill the job. H1-B candidates generally do contract work because their companies pay for their sponsorship, and contract employees can't fill full-time/"permanent" roles...they have to remain contractors. Those jobs stay open for years sometimes. And most of the time, they end up hiring a contractor who is an H1-B after searching for a year and not finding any US Citizens or people with green cards to fill those roles. So, I'd say there is definitely a skill gap.

Wow, I did not get the sense that you were acting like a child. More like you were trying to offer valid advice in a field in which you are clearly qualified to offer an opinion and then got some shit for it. So you responded in defense of yourself. I didn't think sarcasm = acting like a child. Anyway, I think its good to offer opinions even if you don't have the time to read through all the comments every single time. Its better than the threads that have a million people commenting "This isn't a confession", "This is actually a very popular opinion" repeatedly. Good advice is never bad to offer, IMHO. Thanks for trying to contribute to this discussion in a thoughtful way.

I was afraid you were going to say that!!! I don't want theories, I want to be able to find the answers definitively! :-)

Thanks for answering my question though, seriously, I really appreciate it. Thanks for doing this. And, I would never ask you for the actual answers, I just was wondering if they are there. I think Lucille 2 is probably meant to be a cliffhanger, though there are multiple theories I can come up with, I don't think there is firm enough evidence, but I need to continuously watch this season as I have all the others before I make that call for sure. I've only made it through season 4 probably 3 times all the way through at this point, so I know I'm still missing a lot. :-) Thanks again!

I am hoping you might see this at some point and maybe answer since I just saw this thread. As the editor, you definitely are very familiar with the story/timeline. There are numerous "mysteries" in this season (like, what happened to Lucille 2). Do you think that an astute viewer can actually solve all of the mysteries of this season? Or do we need more information for some of them? Another example is who sabotaged GOB during his "illusion" at his wedding. I think that answer is easily found if you watch carefully, even though its never answered outright. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? It seems as though each and every Bluth has motivation to harm her, but my guess is that it wasn't one of them. Possibly involving her vertigo, or a non-Bluth if foul-play was involved. I'm hoping we get a season 5 to answer more!
