I'm hoping they've talked to you about kidney exchange programs as well - even if you can't find a match, if you have someone who will step up and donate to someone else, you may be able to get a kidney that way.
Also - just a little plug - if any of the people who were willing to donate to you might be willing to donate to a stranger, they might want to look into becoming a non-directed donor. In this case they give a kidney but don't have a friend or family member who needs to receive one, so they can kick off a chain that can result in many people getting kidneys. It really wouldn't take THAT many people to step up to basically wipe out most of the waitlists. Here's a video of a guy who did it.

I read a similar thread recently and I’m now waiting for my first doctor’s appointment to start the process to be a non-directed donor!

How many artifacts are not on display at any given time? How do you make a determination about what goes out?
