Thank you. I had a debate with someone about hospice and letting people go rather than suffering, and he basically accused me of murder - advanced directive be damned. Some people are just assholes I guess.

I'm one of the unlucky ones that had to deal with a parent passing away - father had a progressive neurodegenerative disease that went on to the point of nearly no cognitive function. Doctors and his advance directive led to him being transferred to hospice care where he passed.

In the eyes of someone in your line of work (and possibly the law), is this considered natural causes or would it more grey of an area?

Interesting! I hadn't ever thought about cases where other causes would be prevelant. His death certificate specifies pneumonia and Parkinson's Disease, which makes sense since pneumonia was the reason for his most recent hospitalization. Basic motor function like swallowing was some of the last to go, so it was going to happen again and again.
