Why does Society keep spending money hunting down women that enjoy Independence and Choice over their own bodies.

The book Sapiens & others have more details around this theory, but it boils down to ensuring that males have a decent chance at obtaining sex and companionship by limiting the ability of females to monetize/distribute their attention to anyone they fancy, which invariably leads to imbalances in the female/male and leads to frustration amongst young men who cannot find a companion (as the wealthier/more successful men hoard the female attention). Frustrated young men have a tendency to revolt/react in a violent manner, which is not desired.

This is why modern societies (who have evolved and survived through the ages) typically try to enforce monogamy and behaviour like "controlling daughters and mothers" and "slut shaming" (ensuring women can only access 1 single man thus ensuring even distribution)
