That actually sounds really nice! I take a while to reply to friends, having a little break in between messages would make it so I wouldn’t have to keep explaining why I don’t reply instantly

OP, in a post about this 1 year ago you said “I don’t think power companies will play a significant role in terms of influencing sustainable energy. They will mainly be influenced by policies or economics.”

I work for a utilities provider in the U.K. I’m just in a call centre and I don’t have a degree in engineering. But the company that I work for is supplying our customers with 100% renewable energy, and we are not a small company. This seems to suggest to me that something you’ve wanted to achieve from your paper (and again, it’s mostly gone way over my head), has already been achieved. Thoughts?

I can tell you one way that we’re trying to achieve a smarter and more energy efficient national grid in the U.K. - with the introduction of ‘smart meters’. These are meters which take a monthly reading from the customer as standard, send the reading back to the DCC (Data Communications Company) + the suppliers, who can in turn start using all of this data to buy the exact wholesale energy that we need. Predictions on how much we need to buy will be more accurate, and in the future the goal would be to connect other appliances to the grid (I don’t know the exact science behind this, but one example I’ve been told about is washing machines and dishwashers having smart functionality which allows them to turn on at off-peak times for customers). Basically, having smart appliances allows for a smarter grid.

I have no idea how your idea of this “SEGS” thing works, but you’re definitely not the only one trying to find solutions for sustainable energy
