Do you drink tea?

Americans and the Russian people will remain friends; however, the ruling class that manipulate, control, poison, bomb the apartment buildings of, and lie to, the Russian people will remain enemies.

Enjoy your tea for now. You've earned an untouched cup of it for being a good boy.

With titans in the free-to-play market like King, Zinga, Supercell, how do indie developers stand out with limited budgets? Especially for things like art and marketing, it is hard to compete without taking massive risks and large investments merely to stand up against the quality that the big companies can pump out. Many of their games do not have ads (at least not interstitial and typically just reward only), and rely on a massive user base to glean that %0.5 of players that actually make purchases. A smaller dev can't afford to not place ads in a game, while relying on these premium purchases when their games are not as highly polished as the bigger companies' experiences. There are break away hits (Crossy Road comes to mind), but nothing seems consistent.

A big issue is smaller devs rely on pushing out fresh ideas through gameplay, often with minimalist art, to attract new customers. Typically, within a few weeks (sometimes days), a larger publisher comes in with a highly polished version of the game (see Ketchapp).

How have you seen indies succeed in the app stores? (doesn't have to make the dev into a millionaire but a livable income to continue pursuing it as a full time career would be nice)

Hey all, thanks for taking questions. I read about a spaceport being build in Nova Scotia sometime in the near future. Is that still moving forward ? If so, what do you think that will mean for Canadian space sector ?

I agree. Even with a breakout success for an indie, $100k isn't going to change your life, nor is it enough to fund a game that has a calculated chance at attaining another success like it. The odds are insurmountable to even reach this plateau, which if focused elsewhere in software development, an individual could attain as a yearly salary within a few years in the industry.
