Do you have any experience with "appropriate technology"? You could probably contribute a lot to, say, the be-all end-all human-powered washing machine -- going beyond the awesome things you've already done for woodshop tools and furniture. (Engineers Without Borders, Global Village Construction Set, Public Lab, Dave Hakkens, and many others...)

I am a healthy 30-year-old unemployed man doing nothing special with my life. Is there any use for me in humanitarian work? It costs about $1500/yr to feed me in the US, probably less elsewhere. Otherwise I require almost nothing else to keep me going except useful work.

Or do you have plenty of professionals and cash with which to pay them, local volunteers already in abundance, no shortage of labor?

there are some geoengineering techniques that a "rogue" rich person, company, or country could try. do you have a list of these techniques?

I don't know how fashionable or politically correct it is. The number of people working on these questions is relatively low, and the transfer of knowledge from first to third world has long been seen as patronizing and often ineffective.

But they are very interesting problems. I need these technologies here in the first world, and many other people do too. :)
