Without lawyers like this the state would have an absolute field day with these people. It's about a fair representation. Imagine having to play basketball for the first time which is a sport you already hate, but not only that you have to play against Michael Jordan in his prime. A defense lawyer is like having Luka doncic as your point guard. It doesn't mean you won't get out of the basketball game, but it may mean your knees and back don't hurt as bad the next day.
