it can be a faulty connection between the cable box and your television using HDMI

Worth mentioning that this is more likely caused by a bad cable... not necessarily a cheap cable. Just in case people are thinking price means anything in this.

But consumers don't like thick devices.

Obviously /r/Android is not totally representative of all consumers (often far from it) but I think many consumers would like a thicker device if it came with a larger battery. Doesn't need to be "thick" but from a user perspective, I'd accept another mm for more battery. Of course whether or not that extra mm can be converted directly to battery space is another thing altogether.

Long shot here - but any chance of addressing the issue with Samsung's smartwatches and Gear line not being compatible? Looks like their Gear app detects the PH-1 as rooted. Samsung support says Essential needs to fix it but no mention of what "it" actually is.

Love my Essential so far but also love my Gear S3. If this isn't fixed - one of them will have to go.

EDIT: Be more than happy to troubleshoot/test anything related to this.

The top performance issue we are pursuing is that UI freeze up that turns out is lock contention in the System UI thread! Now that we're hot on it's trail we should have a fix soon.

Had this a couple times myself. Happy to see that it is potentially identified.

This would be fantastic for providing feedback or random bugs and issues. I hope that becomes a thing and Essential people are actually able to participate.
