Alaska still has few places where you can trade and shop, and in 1950 (that's what...67 years ago?) there were very very few places to acquire specific goods. I'm certain that extreme environment places of small population have some serious quarantine protocols that are hard to follow because:

  1. You have to stay indoors often

  2. Everybody has to use the same facilities
