FL has broad public record disclosure laws. Weird stuff happens in every state, FL just makes it easier for it to be mined for quick clicks, headlines, and soundbites.

Why is the most simple solution, opening up the NICS check system to individuals to allow for a private sales to have a BG check done never even suggested? You can not claim gun owners wouldn't use it because it's never been available to us, we were shut out by congress in the 90's when the whole thing was first setup. Currently a FFL using the NICS system to process a private transaction is, per the ATF itself, abuse of the system.

So that leaves private sellers with, no current way to have a BG check done on a sale, subject to economic punishment if we sell it to a dealer, whom will not give market value, and shouldn't be expected to, or restricted to only selling out of state, again economic punishment as market price could be higher local, shipping costs, fees if using an auction site to sell, so that upon the buyer picking up the firearm from a FFL fills out a 4473 and has a BG check done.

What is you opinion adding -gate to "scandals" when the original context of Watergate from which it was born was the physical location of the act, where now it is just a lazy catch all?
