Hi. I wanted to ask about the impact and logic behind legacy's.

In the UK and Europe, being a legacy carries no impact, however in the US, it can , in some cases, double an applicants chances of being accepted.

Whats the idea behind it? And what do you think about it? Most universities are very hush hush about the impact it carries. How much does it really help?

To what extent do you use music theory when making your music?

Is it just, "what sounds good" ? or do you actively make decisions in your music based on theory?

What do you think is the most important or historically significant manuscript kept at the libraries of Timbuktu that is at risk?

Thanks for the response! This mirrors what I've read in other places in that it helps in strengthening the ties between the alumni and the university and that it helps to tip the applicant over the line, rather than being a major factor in admissions.

I would up vote you 1000 times, but the other 999 Arabs are off doing Arab things, so, alas, i have but one up vote to give.

Great job with the AMA so far, it has been very enlightening to read.
