I also dig graves and they aren't quite fully 6ft deep. A good way to measure it is using your shovel. Grave digging is very precise because it's a matter of inches. Our graves are about 42 inches wide where only 2 inches to spare on each side for a casket, and a total of 4 inches on each side until the next grave site. It's not uncommon to expose neighboring vaults as you dig. They help with stopping cave-ins though!
