Another issue is that a lot of local population were deported and a lot of russians were encouraged to come there, so this high percentage of russian population is not something that happened naturally.

Yeah, same thing happened to the Baltic countries and was also planned for Finland if the Winter War had gone differently. Many of the Finns living in the territories we lost to Russia were also deported. Even today it's illegal for Finns to buy Russian land within 150km of the border.

Not OP, but the Soviets generally kept PoWs for much longer than the allies, and in harsher conditions. Not just Germans e.g. Finns too.

How long did it take to develop the game? Could you give some timeframes for milestones (having the idea, assembling the team, writing first line of code, publishing day etc)?

Some more questions on the technical side of things: what language(s) did you write the game in? The iVersion must've been in Objective-C I guess. What other tools (IDE for example) did you use? Any productivity/workflow hacks that you had?

My guess would be a bigger market, and also global (relative) familiarity of all things American through tv, movies and even the internet. Choosing Finnish emergency services would've also had some upsides, but these things are always trade-offs.
