Thank you for answering despite the down vote. :) I remember my father had a small telescope when I was little (I wonder what happened to it...) and we used to look at the moon and sometimes we could find fuzzy planets. We lived where there was so little light pollution, and especially on crisp winter nights you could see everything up there so clearly.

I miss that.

So, you seem to know stuff about telescopes. Hypothetically, if I were a budding amateur astronomer looking to buy my first entry level awesome telescope to see stuff far away with, what would you recommend? Without a budget in mind, just a general biggest-bang-for-your-buck sort of idea.
