I heard Cara Santa Maria interview Janna Levin in her latest poscast about black holes and gravitational waves.
They end up talking about Lenny Susskind's hypothesis that things crossing the event horizon may not only get sucked inward to the singularity and destroyed, but are rather smeared across the event horizon itself. In other words, things do fall in, but also don't fall in.
Have you heard about this 'smearing' hypothesis? What do you make of it? I hope I'm getting the gist of it right.
I find it exciting that there are new ideas on what happens to data crossing event horizons, because it gives me hope that we'll learn something extreme about our own reality by observing the most extreme environment in the cosmos.

Hi Winifred!
Are there any game music implementation techniques that go unnoticed that you wish people would geek out on more or notice?
Thank you for this amazing AMA

Have you heard of Shoshana Zuboff's book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism? Do you think that there is a way to convince Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc to be more socially responsible with how their algorithms shape human behaviours?
