I’ve got a friend who is not a paedophile, but he sometimes fingers ten year-olds in the park. It’s his alter-ego, he’s definitely not a nonce (he’s got an A n GCSE maths) I think it’s just, y’know, a bit of fun.

The uneducated part of me says “If a vaccine is brand new, it’s impossible to know if it has long-term detrimental effects of any kind. The only way to know what this does over a ten year period is to wait ten years after deployment and see what’s happened.”
Is this thought process 100% invalidated by the science? In other words, it is possible to know with absolute certainty that there will not be any long-term negative side effects?

I know the answer to this and I haven’t even read 99.999% of the reported material.

Not OP.
It’s probably less about trusting the app than trusting the entity that receives the data. Which is usually going to be either governments or massive data analytics companies. In either case I’d suggest it’s a firm ‘no’.
Of course, it may be the case that having your location and/or proximity to other people being recorded and processed by an untrustworthy entity is considered worth it, given the benefits.
