I come from a RDBMS background, but over the past year I’ve been able to work with Mongo and Dynamo. I can’t say I’ve ever used a recursive foreign key, but am familiar with the concepts of foreign keys and recursion.

All this is to ask: in what context would one ever do this, how common is it, how is it useful, and under which type of DB system? What do I gain by recursing a data table onto itself?

(This is not a challenge, you’ve genuinely piqued my interest and I’m curious)

This past year, I was in the Gustavus choir and sang "Alone," a piece you commissioned for us (the commissioned piece being the SATB version, not the original that the King Singers performed). At first, I hated it, and thought it to be unmusical; however, as we began to master it, I realized the true beauty in the piece, and how you were able to create an ominous yet soothing sound.

I was wondering (and have been for a while), what was your process in writing this piece? Was it purely theoretical? Did you hear it in your head one day and successfully captured it on paper? It's such a different sound to anything I've heard before.

The Current always claims to have such a unique playlist, but I have a question for you - does The Current actually keep tally on how many times it plays a track? And if so, has it been considered to reference that tally when playing the top charts? I remember in 2012 hearing the song "Default" every time I got into my car, and recently I can recall a time where I got into my car at three different times in one day and heard "Take Me to Church" on all three trips.

By the way, I love the Current - I've been a sustaining member for 3 years now. I adore Jill and Steve in the morning.

True, they’re not that bad sometimes, but having to do them at all is still worse than other developed countries. I’ve met people from Australia who had no clue what day their tax day is, because the entire ritual of filing them yourself just isn’t a thing there.
