In Communism, we were promised that our basic needs would be taken care of but we would not be able to have luxuries, we would share many things. In today's America, our basic needs aren't being taken care of, and many have been driven to share things like car share programs and having roommates well into adulthood. I've found that with the red scare still fresh in older people's minds, they instantly equate any amount of socialism with full blown Communism. I lived through Stalin, though nowhere near as long as you did and I find the idea laughable. Even Bernie Sanders does not come close. What proportions do you think would work best?
