the concept of a female-only award is absurd. If females are equal to men then there should be one award which rewards quality work. You shouldn't be awarded because you are a female, that has nothing to do with your contributions to the field.

Why should we bother promoting minority groups rather than promoting people who contribute significantly? Wouldn't that solve your gripe over 'recognition?'

Specifically promoting someone because they are a minority is discrimination. People should receive recognition because of their achievements, not because of their gender or ethnicity. I seriously find it difficult to believe that you people are highly educated but cannot see a contradiction here.
