Most life insurance has a suicide clause that lapses after 1-2 years anyway.

It someone took out a policy and then immediately did assisted suicide I’d imagine it’d be a no-go, but most people with a terminal illness either wouldn’t qualify, or they would have owned the policy before the illness and would be passed the suicide clause anyway.

Thank you!

I will say that is how it is now.

I’m sure they’d honor their current contracts (they legally have to), but if assisted suicide became more prevalent then I wouldn’t put it past them to do something differently in the future.

Like your comment above said “you have to stay alive and suffer before we pay this out.”

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that became a reality. Because the longer you stay alive, the longer they don’t pay out (and receive a premium).

But I guess right now, actuaries don’t see it as a threat to the bottom line yet.

So how do they keep their licenses after being caught sexually abusing patients?

I mean yeah, but that seems like a pretty big downside if you ask me.
