Absolutely not. I'm a 3D Modeler/Texture artist. I definitely started out drawing and a good foundation like being able to draw human anatomy is never not going to be helpful, but no you don't have to be good at drawing to be in the VFX industry. That being said, any skill you can bring to the table is helpful, and if you're going through school like at Gnomon, they have foundation classes like that to help you.

Fellow VFX artist here; as someone who's jumped around to a bunch of different places, I think every single place I've worked has a Gnomon grad there. I've taken a few online courses myself and they're awesome. Would highly recommend it, or at the very least getting a tour and talking to their recruiters/staff about the place.
