Looking at a bit of research there are rarely complications. I don't see the issue with this at all.

I find these things difficult as hell (obviously they could be more difficult based on your situation). Just remember you're not alone - most people around you are just trying to figure stuff out too, even "simple things"... they are just experts at hiding it!

Not trying to answer for them, but I mean the people they are helping seem to want to have this procedure done to improve their lives, so there's that. Doing a bit of research it appears risks are minimal.
