Purely anecdotal, but my aunt used to run a PBS station and actually couldn't stand The Newsroom, mostly because she said it felt like they were condescending to journalists.

Personally, I was a huge fan.

I went to school in the South, and yes, this is generally true. I actually had a history teacher tell us that the Civil War "didn't really have anything to do with slavery". While I know there is a bit of truth to that statement, I now know enough to know that it's pretty much bullshit.
