They won't let you solve it that way in competition

That seems obvious, but frankly it would not even matter since the top level competitors solve these things in less time than it wold take to take it apart to solve it.

1 - What is the fastest you have flown as a passenger?

2 - I hear the fuel for the SR-71 is semi-solid and even appears to "leak" from the aircraft while on the tarmac. Is that true?

Can you still take them apart like you could back when they first came out?
