One of my Wikipedian friends from Ghana explained it to a friend like this:

"Before you tell me how much you'd like to get paid for writing Wikipedia, tell me how much you'd like to pay to read it."

First try and dig out the facts of the case, instead of narrating the whole thing like a gossip columnist would. Who did what and why was it significant? Who says so? Who has been analysing the situation?

Find news sources that say that it was significant, and also find neutral sources. If it's such an important incident, it has to have been covered by serious newspapers and other media.

If you need help putting in citations, you can just paste links to relevant articles, and ask on the talk page for help with formatting. If you're being bullied, drop a note on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Slashme and I'll take a look at what's going on.

So go for it! Find some sources and write it from a neutral point of view.
