First, I ask this in all seriousness - but what outcome will make you happiest after your amputation? What will be the ideal result for you?

I absolutely understand that being free of pain is very important (probably THE most important thing at this point)...but I expect that there are things you have thought about and are hoping for beyond that. :)

I hope you focus on all those things in the coming weeks - I do believe that all of those outcomes are there for you on the other side. It's just going to take time.

I don't say this to in any way minimize or make light of the challenges you'll be facing - but you're on the downhill part of the ride now. :)

Hi, Tom - Fellow Bostonian and Glicknick here...I'm curious about how A Capitol Fourth producers are going to deal with the rain/lightning tonight. I assume that the performers will be covered enough by the hatch shell to go on and perform - but what about the fireworks? Will you just air last year's pyrotechnics?
