This sounds like a bad case of PTSD, I hope you found the help you needed. Just the way you described the last part I can relate to.

I've been holding hits since 2004, and I have ONE chest hair.

I had a very similar experience with my first DUI, which was also a felony in my state (Idaho, .08 and I blew a .29). I don't remember where I left from, and only have brief flashes of the actual driving. I was driving an s10 pickup, and about a quarter mile from my home I wrecked into a small ditch around a construction site for a new parking lot. I had two 50 pound bags of rock salt in my truck bed, that I had left in from winter time just about a month before this happened. The two bags flew into my back window, exploding the glass and bags, covering me and the entire cab in glass and salt. Somehow, which is still lost to me, I got out of the ditch, and started making my way home. The cop saw me at the second to last turn to my house (I know this from the police report), and proceeded to follow me there (why he didn't stop me before I still don't know why. Most likely to try an get more infractions against me). I made it home, and was inside got down to my room and into bed. I was on the phone with my girlfriend at the time when I hear a knock on my door, and opened it to see a county sheriff standing there. Still almost completely incoherent, he asks me if I've been drinking and if I had gone for a drive recently. I admitted everything, and he asked me to step outside. I was compliant the through the whole process, an ended up in jail. This was 6 years ago, and the DUI laws are much stricter, but I ended up getting bailed out that night. I never had to go through your experience of being locked up like a dog, but it probably would've helped me be more concerned about drinking and driving, as I got my second DUI two years ago. I'm now sober thank science.
