There was also a movie starring Adrien Brody titled The Experiment that was very similar to the experiment. Not for the faint of heart, they definitely dramatize it.

I would think that letting us know that something we want to watch is going away soon would encourage more binge-watching, before we lose the chance. For example, I had to find 'alternate sources' to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off the other day because I didn't know it was pulled, so my guests were sitting around for the 15 minutes it took to track down another high quality copy and acquire it. It definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.
