I've found it helpful to re-position how we're talking. My natural way to have a talk is to face the other person, and engage in the conversation. However, people who are having a rough time may find this really intimidating and will close down.

If I'm trying to pry something out of a reluctant kid I'll switch to doing something with them, where we are side by side, focused on something else together, like a video game. If you do this long enough usually the thing that's bothering them will come out.

I skipped hosting my traditional YearCompass party last year and feel that the shit show that is 2020 is all my fault accordingly.

My question for you:. Can this karmic cluster be ended by doing the 2020-2021 book? Do you have any tips for easing my tremendous guilt?

It's how you're naturally reading now. Have you seen that famous scrambled up text:

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

When you're reading you're not sounding out each letter in your brain, you just....read.

The problem is that you also have to know how to sound out in order to deal with words you didn't know before, etc.
