Yeah sounds very similar to what a buddy said. If you know the crew foreman you can just "hop on". It sounded very weird to me... Very unofficial so I appreciate the clarity. Unfortunately not too many rigs over here in Chicago, haha. Stay safe man, good luck, and thanks.

To piggyback on the original question, how does one hypothetically go about looking for a roughneck job? In the US, specifically. From what I notice, there's not much advertising, sounds like a lot of word of mouth. Maybe cause I'm not local to the oil rigs but still, would like to know how the hiring process works if I wanted to look into it.

Exactly the same for me. I have it all over my hands so its hard to miss. I stopped caring what people thought long ago though. With all different types of diseases running around I figure we got one of the better ones in terms of ill effects... Think positive man! I've heard of treatments but no insurance means no luck. Mine stops and spreads randomly. I do believe it is associated with stress.
