Giving What We Can and the Open Philanthropy Project are similarly good. But GiveWell is the gold standard; if you want to make a big difference, follow their lead. (Unless you think that animals are nearly as morally worthy as humans, in which case examine Animal Charity Evaluators, or that the far future and the very large number of humans who will exist then should be the primary concern, in which case MIRI, FLI, or FHI are all good choices.)

There is a reason why Giving What We Can sets a specific number and says "This is what you should do; higher is supererogatory." Give 10%; give more only if you really want to.

Trust me, it's true where you work. Environmental charities are massively overfunded relative to impact; they're sexy causes. Though not quite as much as puppies with rare cancers.
