Local Native Hawaiian here. It can be interpreted in many ways. The actual meaning is any foreigner. Sometimes yes it is used as a slur and that comes from alot of assholes, every place has them, sometimes its used casually as slang for Caucasian, like when I explain to people about which of my ancestors I get my haole ethnicities from (mixed race) and where they came from. Aloha!

What exactly would 'stoned Hawaiian hippies' (and can you clarify whether you mean specifically Hawaiian hippies, or Hawaiians, or hippies?) being doing exactly to interfere with safety and property protection when they come by? Do you know of any pumps and hoses that can be used for lava without melting or catching on fire? Obviously they do, and Pele is one specific spirit.

Do you leave whiskey or gin for Pele? If so do you just leave it there or do you drink with her? Me personally I think she needs a drinking buddy with all the alcohol she gets.
