My mother mentally abused me for years when I was too young to fight back and had nobody else to turn to (singe parent, single child). She didn´t do it intentionally to harm me but was combatting her inner demons by venting to the only person who would listen (or could not not listen). I resented her for this for years and years. Being in my thirties I can now say enough time has passed for me to understand why she did hat she did based on her own upbringing and problems and love her nevertheless. It´s not exactly the same thing as your mom seems to have a problem with your core self but I hope from the bottom of my heart she will let her love for her son to overcome the hurtful attitudes ingrained in her. Good luck RetributionRyan, please don´t let this break you but form your own attitudes towards other to be more kind and accepting, love yourself and the people important to you. One day I hope you can also love your mom again, despite all the damage she´s done, but that´s a two ay street. All the best, you´re an amazing young man.

Hello! I know I'm a little late and my question is quite silly but if you have time I'd like to ask your advice on Europeans traveling to Beirut. I've been invited to a wedding in Beirut in September and would love to get your views on whether it's safe to travel there. Of course it's a long way off still but in general, do you see it as a dangerous place for white Europeans? Thanks much, this has been a very interesting thread!
