Bear in mind the majority probably had no concept of a nuclear bomb in their mind. You and I know about it now, but back then it was probably hard to make the leap from "hmm, physicists..." to "gigantic, war-ending bomb".

What type of bone marrow transplant was it, and did you have any long lasting side effects? (graft versus host disease, etc)

I ask because my father is due to have one very soon to treat Myelofibrosis.
