How does joining a lotto pool effect EV, if at all?

So, I shouldn’t join the office lotto pool and just buy tickets for myself to maximize EV? I understand the office pool has 100% likelihood of being split, but doesn’t any reduction in EV get offset by the increased tickets you purchase into at a lower price ultimately?
