California here. I cosigned (stupid, I know) for a friend who bought a motorcycle and then defaulted. That was 10 years ago. Just got a call recently for collections. Asked for a validation of debt and still waiting to hear back. Can I send them a cease and desist letter since this debt should be past the statute of limitations? What are the repercussions of this?
