Quick, I need to suck the venom out!

I am off the opinion that; if you can not immerse yourself in a game on a flat screen you can't call yourself a gamer. If you can immerse yourself then there is no need for half assed VR.

It's either straight into my cerebral cortex or nothing at all.

I know that "OR could be the first step to obtaining real VR" but once a company monopolizes like Occulus will then they will no longer have reason to advance their VR forward. There will be no "war" to spur on advancement (ref. WW1+2).

Convince me otherwise; as a developer to their demographic.
