Hey guys! Huge fans and I cannot wait until Saints Row IV is released! I had a few questions about entering the gaming industry:

  1. How did you two get started in the gaming industry? Meaning, what road did you take to reach where you are today?

  2. What is your best advice to somebody who wants to get started in the gaming industry?

  3. What are some of your favorite resources that helped get you started in game programming/designing/directing/producing?

Thanks again, Jim and Scott!

Thanks for the full reply! I'm currently halfway through my college years, entering my 3rd year next year. I started out as electrical engineering, but switched last year to computer science. I believe it might be a bit late for a specialized school (and would never want to switch from where I go, I love my school). I've been trying to come up with a small game but am struggling with ideas thinking I'm just rehashing something I've played before. But the thoughts manifest me all day.

Thanks for the advice, and I'll be working hard to hope to join you in the gaming industry!

Would it make sense to pay based on individual user playtime? Like this users $7 goes to these developers based on the games they played?

Or does that payment model have more complications?

Hey there Rex! I have been extremely interested in the game industry, and am looking for some advice.

How did you get to the position you're working today at Media Molecule? What are your biggest suggestions for someone who would want to pursue the gaming industry as a career? I'm currently in my 3rd year of studying computer science at my university, and I always find game design and programming to be extremely interesting.
