I've heard it's extremely difficult to attend an autopsy or embalming, even for people studying in the field, or working with funeral staff. I've been interested in attending something like this, more for curiosity than anything. Short of getting a degree is there an appropriate way for a person to attend one of these, or are they entirely closed to the public? I want to remain extremely respectful to all parties involved, and it seems rude to even ask something like this. So I apologize ahead of time.

It must have been autopsies that are impossible to get into then. I had a friend that drove homicide victims to the morgue and they never let her see one. They said she had to go to 2 years of med school to even be in the room.

Embalming on the other hand sounds a little easier. Except for funerals I've never seen a cadaver and it just feels like something I should experience before I become one.

I'm 28 so might be past that. It might be worth checking websites to see if they ever open that to the public.
