This is what I think many fail to recognize. If your work is undeniable - your recognition will be the same. Formerly I was a division manager for a large health insurance company. I’m what some would label a “typical straight white male.” My obligation to my company and team was to build the strongest/most capable team possible. It was in my best interest to hire the most capable candidate regardless of gender, age, skin color, sexual preference etc. Know what happened? The most qualified people I hired were of all different genders, ages, skin colors and sexual preferences. Slowly over the years I built up my team of “undeniables” and became one of the most effective divisions in the company. What I found most interesting was that everyone on my team (for the most part) recognized and and supported each other’s talents to the point where any bias/identity politics wasn’t even on the radar. I never even considered not taking somebody seriously because of their gender or skin color or sexual preference. I would be stupid as a manager to hire people that only look like me and share my genitalia. It’s a dumb way to do business and a quick way to fail. I’m not denying that people don’t always do what I did, but I was in the “business world“ for nearly 20 years and what is being described in this post (in my experience) is an anomaly not the norm.

I have a good credit score, a loan that I can afford 30 year fixed, and a desire to drop my payments by $100's a month. Is there any reason for my bank to refinance me? My neighbor didn't pay his mortgage for almost a year, then they restructured down to about half if what I'm paying (similar terms). What can I do?
