Thank you for making this AmA. I'm also a fellow rent-a-cop but not in the mall district. A few things people should know.

  1. Security guards don't have any more rights than any other civilian. If they ask you for ID or anything you don't have to listen to them.

  2. Too many security guards take their job way too seriously, however, this doesn't mean you should be a huge asshole to every guard you see. There are few (like Killer_Brig ) that are genuinely nice and are there to help.

  3. Not sure if it's just my company or everyone's but guards aren't supposed to use force unless for self defense or they're witnessing a felony. Most guards aren't allowed to carry mace or tasers. There are some armed security guards, but I haven't seen them outside of banks or chemical plants. It's observe and report, not protect and serve. Most of us can lose our jobs getting into physical contact with patrons so we tend to stay in the background.

  4. I have been in many arguments regarding rules and EVERYONE thinks I'm just making shit up to be an asshole. Guys, sometimes our bosses make shitty nonsense rules that security guards have to abide to. For the most part I'll try not to enforce stupid rules but please be understanding if a security guard is politely asking you to do something. Do you think we like getting cursed at, when all we can legally do is stand there and take it?

You can ask him anything. Doesn't mean he has to answer them.

I'm from Chicago. Let the pizza flame war commence!

Um, MY LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA TASTES SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOUR LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA.

Am I doing this right?
