I'm sorry, but I have to weigh in on this. Trump does not hold the same views as Hitler. We are not in the Reich or are we facing a new one.

As we all know, the rise of Hitler came about from the failures of Weimar Germany. Unemployment and inflation left the youth and for the most part the adults in poverty and with no hope. Up comes mustache man himself (after a stint in prison, where mein kampf was written). Now, Hitler's rise to power was enabled by this depression. At the mid-1920s his book was published and spread. People were angry and the book offered the scapegoat of the Üntermensch. So he got a small group under his control, a group that quickly organized into a more militant force to face the aggression of the communist Rotfront. The Sturmabteilung (SA) were the dedicated followers in these years, an organization under his direct control that fought the Rotfront in the streets of Germany; unlike today, all these skirmishes left dead.

The Treaty of Versailles was strangling Germany, and this was a big selling point for the Nazis. Kill the VT, and then Germany can prosper. In 1929 a referendum was held to end it--95% of voters agreed, but only 15% eligible voted so it failed. Still, the effect gave legitimacy to the Nazis, so they drew in more people. After a SA commander named Horst Wessel was executed by communists, the German Nazi Party exploded. His death was turned into that of a martyr, to show that the violent reds couldn't be trusted and were savages. This came to great effect, as within two years the Nazis grew from a incredibly small 130,000 to the Nazis gaining control of 18.3% of the Reichstag (over 6 million votes!)

Now in 1931 the SA was banned by Prussia, as violence was getting out of control. The SA and SS were then banned from Germany in 1932 as deaths started to reach the hundreds for either side. A logical thought would be that this was the end of the Nazi party; but the law was actually repealed months later not by the Nazis but the independent Chancellor Von Papen! The violence continued with the disbanning of the SA/SS; at points the German Army was called in as BOTH sides killed each other. The martyrdom phenomenon held firm, and the Nazis continued to grow due to the violence of the other side. They first gained the Reichstag, then pushed for the chancellery. The idea held by Von Papen was that he could ring Hitler in once he was in position, but boy was he wrong.

As he got the chancellery, there was remarkably little fear. Many thought he couldn't form a dictatorship. Even the Jews were relatively unworried at the start. But the Reichstag Fire scapegoat was used to eliminate the communist threat. He consolidated emergency power and wiped the board of opposition. It would take the death of Hindenburg to give him final powers though, and then we know what happened next.

Alright, that's the short history lesson. Now about Trump, Neos, and Antifa.

First off, Trump by no means has the ability to gather control. Our constitution is remarkably well written to prevent this, and to think he can just erase it is asinine. I've seen people argue that he'll use the military or whatever; but unlike Nazi Germany, we have a million volunteers. We swore not allegiance to him, but to follow all LAWFUL orders and defend the people and constitution. So basically if he tries that (and let's be honest he's not that dumb) we will intervene. Get that out of the way first off.

Trump says whatever he wants. But Hitler was a excellent orator. He knew his enemies, and he pinpointed them while uplifting the German people. Trump....Trump does Trump things. He ain't a speaker.

The Nazis at their foundation were a militaristic organization. The Republicans are not. They may enjoy guns more, they may have more military voters, but they ain't a military organization.

Trump can't have unlimited power. We almost saw that with FDR and we made a amendment to prevent it from happening again. 2 terms Max. Gotta run for reelection. There was no such provision in Germany, and Hitler used his remarkable tact to secure the votes of the handful of other parties for that majority vote for Emergency powers. Again, not possible in the US.

Hitler hated the "Üntermensch". Jews, gays, gypsies, dark skin colors, Slavs, Russians, etc. All were under him and he tried to eliminate them. Trump...if you really think he legitimately hates those groups, I would love for you to find proof. Don't pull the "But the Neos" card cause I could do the same with democrats "But the Commies/Antifa". Give me legit proof, like Hitler's Mein Kampf, that shows he is trying to wipe out other races.

Expansion. Hitler wanted to create Liebenstraum for Germany. Basically it's more land so his people can prosper. Sounds good in concept, but he had to take other countries and places to do it. Part of this is the racially charged speech he held, so it refers to above, making it quite awful. Trump does not seek to expand the US.

Militarism. By law German youth had to participate in the Hitlerjüngend or the female equivalent. They shot machine guns/rifles, learned on the PZ I/II, did field exercises, were indoctrinated, etc. Nazi life promoted a highly militarized society, even since the foundation of the SA and the SS. Look at he Nuremberg Rallies and you'll see it. This came from the depression and VT; he restored the German sense of pride in themselves and gave them employment. Economically this saved Germany. But I digress. Trump has no military society with him. There is no SA, there are no Trumpjüngend. He supports the military, but is not using the military as the foundation of his country and party. You could say "But North Korea", but in reality he actually put his foot down and said no for once. I can respect that. Most of the military is still champing at the bit to steamroll them too...

The Neos and Antifa. Oh man this is a bundle of joy. What Weimar Germant saw is what we are seeing right now; or at least the very start of it. BOTH, not one, but BOTH sides are equally reprehensible in this. As you can see from history, the "punch a Nazi" spiel is not going to do anything but give them power. They were small in 1928, but four years later they held power. They were banned twice, but they took power.

Antifa has taken the road of the Rotfront to the letter. "In the 1920s, the Comintern described all moderate left-wing parties as "social fascists", and urged the Communists to devote their energies to the destruction of the moderate left. As a result, the KPD, following orders from Moscow, rejected overtures from the Social Democrats to form a political alliance against the Nazis". (Rough quote here) Antifa has rejected the moderate democrats of the USA, and turned to violence. They've been doing it since Trump won the primaries. Antifa is a anarcho-communist group that relies on violence, much like the Rotfront. All they will end up doing is pushing the Nazis into power. Before you start with how bad Nazis are, remember Communists killed hundreds of millions of their own people. (Stalin alone killed almost 20 million in his collectivization, and 27 million more died in WWII due to his poor command)

So, in conclusion, Trump is nothing like hitler. To say so is foolish. However, the events regarding Neos, Antifa, and Charlottesville are resplendent of Weimar Germany, and I promise you it will only get worse if we don't label both groups as domestic terrorists and eliminate them.

Disclaimer: my views are not the views of the US Army not any commander or group related to such.

Tl;dr: Trump isn't Hitler, or even close. Neos and Antifa are leading us down the same road as Weimar Germany, and both are equally as bad.

Hey, good to see an AMA from one of my favorite games. I do have a couple questions

1-Is there any plan in the future to limit the impact of high tier players either through skill or ranked mm? Only reason i ask is there are some players (the [PC] clan, most particularly [PC]Zab) That singlehandedly wipe every game to the point where lobbies empty a few minutes after they join.

2-Is there any plans to make Artois(i think? It’s the tiniest map) larger or change it; the German side always suffers in this map.

I’m no HK, but for number one...

Why did they turn to violence? Because they’ve been getting the shit beat out of them for four months and it’s only gotten worse in terms of police brutality. People will only roll over and take it so much before they start fighting back. Their voice isn’t being heard, but actively and violently suppressed; this is enough to push to retaliation. It’s not as if they go around destroying everything, but instead target specific pro-CCP business and transport. If they make a mistake you will see the protestors cleaning up and restoring as much as they can along with an apology.

But these people have been gassed, beaten, stabbed, cut, and shot for four months. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect retaliation.
