Held a 6 pool with cc first a couple times. So many positions where it was a total build order loss or overwhelming odds MKP would somehow manage to overcome. Top tier micro.

AFAIK there are 3 main ways incubators/accelerators make money. Initially, they pick companies they work with very carefully and primarily as investors. So this overlaps with how seed investment can also work.

1) Take company equity for a small (usually less than $100k, occasionally more but close to this magnitude, investment for, in general, 3-10% of the company).

2) Provide funding on a loan. (Debt rather than equity).

3) A combination of equity investment but also charge a fixed fee. ie they will give 100k for 6% of the business but take back 25k immediately as a fixed fee of the program.

Advice for finding and forming a team at the stage before funding? How can you convince people to work with you?

Most accelerators require startup teams. My question is how can I attract people to work on my ideas and form teams if I am from a small city with very little entrepreneurial activity. Literally 0 meetups for entrepreneurs.

I am non technical but have experience in sales, customer service and various other useful skills for the projects I work on. But I know I cannot do this alone.

A potential solution would be to form a fully remote team. But I find trying to convince talent is even more difficult in that situation.

Say I have a working MVP created from freelancers. Plus I have contracts already in place before I have a service and have conducted some market research. What more can I do to for a team and what more can I do in order to be fundable?

Also is there a good guideline I can follow for a non tech or a checklist or road map that gives a brief overview of the actions I should be taking to add value and get to the stage of joining an accelerator?

Currently, I use Paul Graham essays, the y combinator lecture series at stanford, Steve blank and eric reis books (startup owners manual and lean startup).

I use them to try to validate my ideas but I feel very isolated from being able to deliver a product or service or convincing talent to work with me.

Any advice hugely appreciated. Thanks
