How can I help my friend with aplastic anemia? She’s been given a time frame of 8 years and there’s a slim chance a donor could help but I want to know everything I can do to help as her long distance boyfriend. Is there anything I can do to support or even donate? I love her so much and I’d do anything for her

I’ll try to find out if there’s more that can be done, the only thing I’m worried about is if she feels pressured to do it if I bring it up. Thank you for your story though, I think I might try to send her flowers :)

She’s had one surgery so far, but there’s only a 10% chance it’ll ever work, so you can probably guess how it went :( I want her to keep hope, but I don’t want to force her to do anything because it’s her life and her choice. Her mother wasn’t even there for her surgery and her father is out of the picture, and I promised no matter the distance I’d be there for the next time. Of course I’ll always be there, she’s the source of all my happiness, but when she says she’s scared and I don’t know what to say, it breaks my heart

It was a transplant yes, and with the slim chance I am not completely sure but that is what she’s said. 90% chance of failure and 8 years to live if so. 40% chance she lives longer than that. She hasn’t brought up immunosuppressive therapy, but I’m going to wait some time to bring it up since her transplant was only just last month. I’m fairly confident she knows all the options, and probably doesn’t like to talk about it because of how much it scares her, which I can understand
